2019 Innovative New Protein Products
Formulated, protein-based foods and beverages and plant-based alternatives to conventional products continue to drive food manufacturers’ and consumers’ interests. The USA protein product market alone was over US$3 billion in 2016.(1)
Products reflect trends such as increased consumption of plant-based foods, low-FODMAP, sports nutrition, keto diets, clean label, CBD addition and more. Some use emerging sources of proteins. Examples of such products, most newly launched, are profiled below. Many will be available to try during the 2019 Protein Trends & Technologies Seminar’s Technical program on May 22.
